Veterans

 

I served in the Army and Reserves for eight years and do not have the recognition from the government for my sacrifice, despite receiving an Honorable Discharge. I work daily with veterans who have been denied coverage from the VA for service connected disabilities because the claims reviewer was unwilling or unable to get records or read those records, and often when a vet finally gets his or her benefits, they have to constantly fight the VA to keep those benefits.

 

The backlog in claims has been over half a million for over a decade. Many of my friends have died waiting for their claims to be approved, while many more do not know they can apply for benefits.

 

I propose a total overhaul of the VA claims process as well as an immediate pay freeze for all employees making over $50,000 and an end to all bonuses for VA employees.
