We only have one planet. It is our responsibility to keep it clean and safe for future generations. Our current policy of exploiting our natural resources for energy extraction with no regards to environmental and health impacts cannot be maintained. The finite resources of coal, oil, and natural gas are becoming more difficult for find and gather, therefore more expensive. We have already seen a stagnation in the economy due to the high prices of fuel and energy.

 

How many more oil spills is our future worth? How many more sources of groundwater have to be contaminated before we move to cleaner, safer energy? How many more chemicals must be spilled for our nation to move to cleaner, safer energy?

 

Thirty years ago, our nation should have been moving toward renewable resources, the time to act MUST BE NOW!

 

I propose a nationwide program that moves our energy generation to local origination stations using renewable energy sources.
